Ingredients

  • 16 oz. (454g.) Italian sausage
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 16 oz. (454g.) spaghetti pasta
  • 2 (28 oz. or 800g. each) cans whole peeled tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

    Brown sausage in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain the skillet and set aside.

    In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Place onion in the saucepan and cook it until it becomes tender. Add garlic to the saucepan and cook for 2 additional minutes. Mix in basil, salt, pepper, Italian sausage and tomatoes. Stirring frequently, simmer the mixture over medium heat for 30 minutes.

    Boil lightly salted water in a large pot. Add pasta and cook 8 to 10 minutes or until it is al dente. Drain the water.

    Place the pasta on a dish and top it with the sausage.
